The big news: India win Vizag Test

India beat England by 246 runs in the second Test in Vishakapatnam on Monday. The Indian bowlers tore into England’s batting lineup after they began the day at 87/2 chasing 405 runs for a win. They were bowled out for 158 after adding just 71 runs to their tally, giving India a 1-0 lead in the five-Test series.

India’s spinners, the trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Jayant Yadav, were at the forefront of the win, bagging eight wickets among themselves. Mohammed Shami took the remaining, which included the wicket of Joe Root. India take on England in Mohali on November 26.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is clearly living on borrowed time as the Justice RM Lodha Panel has asked the Supreme Court to disqualify BCCI’s office-bearers and appoint former Home Secretary GK Pillai as an observer. On October 17, the Supreme Court had reserved its order after the BCCI sought more time to implement the Lodha committee reforms. 
  6. Twenty three wickets fell at the end of day one between Baroda and Bengal in their Ranji Trophy encounter in Rohtak on Monday. Ashok Dinda was the first to exploit the conditions, picking up a six wickets to bowl Baroda out for 97. However, Bengal were bowled out for 76 with Atit Sheth taking seven wickets. Baroda ended the day on 63/3 with a lead of 84 runs.
